Overview
Vitória Sport Clube, commonly called Vitória de Guimarães or Vitória, represents the club from historic Guimarães, Portugal's birthplace. Founded in 1922, the club embodies pride of a city considered the Portuguese nation's cradle. The Vimaranenses play at Estádio Dom Afonso Henriques, a 30,000-capacity venue named after Portugal's first king and constituting Minho football's temple.
Vitória's history is marked by a Portuguese Cup in 2013, first major title after several lost finals. The club has also regularly participated in European competitions and established itself as Portuguese football's third force behind Porto and Benfica. This consistency at the highest level demonstrates sporting project excellence and the club's capacity to compete with far superior budgets.
Vitória embodies Minho pride and Guimarães' historic identity. The club develops their academy which has revealed talents like João Moutinho and André Silva. The Conquistadores maintain the Minho derby against Braga, an intense regional rivalry mobilizing all of northern Portugal. The objective is to regularly win trophies and proudly represent Portugal's birthplace on national and European stages.
