Overview
Club Universidad de Chile, commonly called La U, is one of Chile's most popular and decorated clubs. Founded on May 24, 1927 in Santiago, the club is historically linked to the University of Chile and represents academic and sporting excellence.
Playing at Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, legendary 48,000-capacity venue that hosted the 1962 World Cup final, the Azules (the Blues) or Románticos Viajeros (Romantic Travelers) display blue, the club's emblematic color.
Universidad de Chile has won 18 Chilean championships and particularly distinguished itself in Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, winning the latter in 2011. The club has produced numerous renowned Chilean and South American internationals.
The Clásico Universitario against Universidad Católica and the Superclásico against Colo-Colo are among Chilean football's most anticipated matches. With an offensive play philosophy and strong identity, La U remains a Chilean football pillar.
