LDU de Quito (LDU)

Overview

Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito, better known as LDU Quito, is one of Ecuador's most decorated clubs. Founded in 1930, the white club represents Ecuador's Central University and plays matches at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado, also called Casa Blanca. Los Albos (The Whites) have marked South American football history with their Copa Libertadores title.

LDU Quito won the Copa Libertadores in 2008, becoming the first Ecuadorian club to capture this prestigious trophy. This historic victory was followed by a Club World Cup title the same year. The Quito club distinguishes itself through technical and offensive play, intelligently exploiting the altitude advantage (2,850 meters) of Ecuador's capital.

Los Albos maintain an intense rivalry with Barcelona SC and Emelec in Ecuadorian clasicos. LDU represents Quito and Ecuador's sierra pride against coastal clubs. The university club continues to dominate Ecuadorian football and export its talents to Europe and other South American championships.
