Ceará
Ceará SC (CSC)
Overview
Ceara Sporting Club, commonly called simply Ceara, is one of Brazil's Northeast's major clubs. Founded June 2, 1914, in Fortaleza, capital of Ceara state, the club is a centennial Brazilian football institution.
Playing at Estadio Castelao, a modern 63,000-seat venue shared with rival Fortaleza, the Alvinegros (black and white) proudly represent Ceara state. The stadium hosted 2014 World Cup matches, testifying to its importance.
Ceara has won numerous regional titles and regularly qualified for Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, Brazilian football's elite. The club particularly distinguished itself through its ability to maintain itself among Brazil's big clubs despite limited resources.
With the Classico-Rei (King's Derby) against Fortaleza as each season's highlight, and a passionate supporter base, Ceara continues writing its history in Northeastern and Brazilian football.
