Overview
Clube Desportivo Nacional, better known as Nacional da Madeira, is Madeira island's principal football club in Portugal. Founded in 1910, the club embodies Portuguese island football and proudly represents this autonomous region on the national stage with distinction and passion.
Playing at Estádio da Madeira in Funchal, the island's capital, the Alvinegros (white and black) benefit from strong popular support throughout the island. The stadium, perched in hills overlooking the Atlantic, offers a unique setting in European football with breathtaking ocean views.
Nacional achieved the feat of winning a Portuguese championship and several domestic cups, imposing themselves against continental giants. The club has also participated several times in European competitions, including the Champions League, representing Madeira on the continental stage.
