Deportivo Independiente Medellín, commonly called Independiente Medellín or simply DIM, is one of Colombia's most popular and most decorated clubs. Founded on November 14, 1913 in Medellín, the club is one of the historic institutions of Colombian football.
Playing at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot, a mythical venue it shares with its rival Atlético Nacional, DIM benefits from massive popular support. Los Poderosos (the Powerful) proudly wear red and blue colors that symbolize passion and paisa identity (from Medellín).
The club has won numerous national titles and regularly distinguished itself in Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. The derby against Atlético Nacional, known as the Clásico Paisa, is one of the most anticipated and most intense matches in South American football.
