Alverca
FC Alverca (ALV)
Overview
Futebol Clube de Alverca is a Portuguese club founded in 1939 in Alverca do Ribatejo, located in the Lisbon metropolitan region. The club, which experienced glory days in late 1990s and early 2000s, currently evolves in Portuguese second division after a difficult period marked by financial and administrative problems that caused them to drop into lower divisions.
Alverca disputed several Primeira Liga seasons between 1998 and 2004, even achieving honorable performances against Portugal's major clubs. The club plays home matches at Campo Futebol Clube Alverca, a modest but authentically charming stadium. During their elite period, Alverca distinguished themselves through attacking play and capacity to train young talents, with several players subsequently evolving at larger Portuguese and European clubs.
The club maintains local rivalries with other Lisbon region formations. Despite difficulties, Alverca retains a loyal supporter base hoping to see their club return to Portuguese football summits. FC Alverca represents Portuguese neighborhood club spirit, with strong identity and deep attachment to local community. The club works today on financial and sporting reconstruction to hopefully return to Portuguese football elite.
