Hull City host West Bromwich Albion at the MKM Stadium in a clash between two teams with play-off aspirations. Both sides are in the top half of the table but need consistency to mount a serious challenge.

The state of play

Hull sit 6th in the Championship with 31 points from 21 matches, occupying the final play-off spot. The Tigers have been solid at home this season, though their form has been patchy in recent weeks.

Tim Walter's side ended Wrexham's nine-match unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory at the MKM Stadium recently, demonstrating they can be tough to beat on their own patch. However, they will need to be at their best against a well-organised West Brom side.

West Brom are 7th with 30 points, just one point behind their hosts. The Baggies have been unbeaten in seven league games at The Hawthorns and come into this fixture off the back of a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Sheffield United last time out.

Carlos Corberan's side have promotion ambitions and have shown the ability to grind out results even without playing at their best. Their defensive organisation has been a key factor in their consistency.

Key battle

Hull's home form against West Brom's away resilience will be the key battle. The Baggies are unbeaten in their last seven away games in all competitions and have the quality to take points from difficult venues.

Prediction

This could go either way. Both teams are evenly matched and have their eyes on the play-offs. A tight, low-scoring affair seems likely with neither side wanting to lose.

Prediction: Hull 1-1 West Brom
