Willian to complete Arsenal transfer after the FA Cup final as Chelsea is now resigned to losing Willian this summer which according to sources, the club expects the Brazilian to complete a free transfer to rivals Arsenal after the FA Cup final on Saturday.
The 32-year-old did sign a short-term contract to finish the league season at Stamford Bridge but was dreaming about a long-term solution to his club future.
Willian had been able to live in west London but he was unimpressed with the club’s offer of a two-year contract. His representatives claim he deserves a three-year extension but it would go against Chelsea’s agreement, which they’ve already violated in their two-year offer to Willian.
Chelsea has already offered Pedro the opportunity to leave the club, while Hakim Ziyech is expected to arrive from Ajax. This will only restrict the chances Willian has had and while his form has been strong since the resumption of the Premier League, the Guardian says Chelsea won’t give him a three-year contract.
Hence the club expects him to join Arsenal on a free, as the Gunners face a cash-strapped season. Interestingly, Willian’s last game for the club could come up against the Gunners when the Blues take on Mikel Arteta ‘s side in Saturday’s FA Cup final.
Willian missed the 2-0 victory on the final day of the season over Wolves but he’s expected to prove his fitness in time to face the Gunners.
