Kieran Tierney and Pablo Mari missed Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace as a ‘precaution’ due to muscular injuries.

The club confirmed prior to the match that Tierney was absent due to ‘muscle tightness’, while Mari was struggling with a ‘tight calf’.

Arteta said: ‘KT had some muscle soreness, he hasn’t recovered well. He wasn’t comfortable to start the game and, in this period, we cannot take the risk.’

While Tierney and Mari were absent, Arsenal fans will be glad to see summer signings Thomas Partey and Gabriel make the bench following their lay-offs. Arteta added: ‘Gabriel is feeling much better, he had a complete week of training.
