Dominik Szoboszlai enhanced his burgeoning reputation with a stunning solo goal which booked Hungary’s place at next summer’s delayed European Championships.
Iceland were in the driving seat with two minutes remaining, but Loic Nego cancelled out Gylfi Sigurdsson’s opener, before Szoboszlai’s made his matchwinnig contribution deep into injury time.
The RB Salzburg playmaker picked up the ball just inside his own half, drove past three opposition players and bent a low right-footed shot beyond goalkeeper Hannes Thor Halldorsson and in off the far post to spark scenes of jubilation.
Szoboszlai has earned rave reviews for the Austrian side and looks set to follow the likes of Erling Haaland and Takumi Minamino, who both earned big money moves away from the club last January to Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, respectively.
