Victor Osimhen has already delivered honest verdict on Arsenal transfer amid £84m price-tag

Napoli centre-forward Victor Osimhen has previously spoken about Arsenal’s interest in him

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has already delivered his verdict on Arsenal amid reports linking him with a summer transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

The north London outfit will need at least one centre-forward this summer given both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are into the final four months of their respective contracts with the club.

Former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was also allowed to join Barcelona during the January window, leaving Mikel Arteta extremely short in the striker department.

Now, NapoliGazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness ) have reported that the Gunners are interested in Nigerian international Osimhen, who reportedly has a price tag of around €100million (£84million). Osimhen joined the Serie A side from Lille back in the summer of 2020.

And the 23-year-old has previously admitted that he came close to joining Arsenal during Arsene Wenger’s trophy-laden time in north London. Speaking to the Independent back in 2020, Osimhen said: “I spoke with Arsene Wenger after the tournament (Under-17 World Cup) ended and he wanted me to come to Arsenal

“I had a lot of options. Barcelona; Inter Milan; Atletico Madrid; Juventus and the rest. Arsenal was a good option but it wasn’t the best at the time. I wanted to start playing as soon as I turned 18.

“I wanted to go to a place where I had time to invest in my game and improve physically. Wolfsburg showed me that possibility.

“Of course, one day I’d like to play for a big club in England… my priority is to play a lot of games. Signing for a big club and being on the bench is not exciting for me.”
