Chelsea could see one of their attackers leaving this summer following persistent poor run of form.
The Blues are faced with decision of letting either of their top attackers leave the club this summer following several offers.
Reports are already linking both Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku to an exit deal away from the club following poor run of form.
Borussia Dortmund are pushing to land Timo Werner while Inter Milan seem interested in Lukaku but a bigger weight from Paris Saint German is making more wave for the Belgian.
Speaking to the press today, Thomas Tuchel appears to have told Chelsea which player he needs in the squad.
Speaking first of Romelu Lukaku, Tuchel said; “For sure. He had a huge chance against Real Madrid [at home] and things can go so fast.
“Nobody knows what this goal would have done for us if he had taken his chance with the late header in the first leg.
“It is exactly what he needs to do. Wait, be patient, work hard and put the team first, be ready to help the team, because as a striker you can help within seconds.”
This statement alone discloses clear disappointment in Lukaku following poor display against Real Madrid.
On the other hand is Timo Werner who produced a very good game against Southampton and Real Madrid.
A performance Thomas Tuchel even tagged the best he has seen from the German since arriving Chelsea.
“Especially for strikers, things can be turned around in minutes, in moments.
“Whole careers can be upside down and in any direction but always as a striker you can have a chance to put things into your favour, as a substitute or if you have the chance to perform from the beginning.
“Now he has made it difficult to leave him out. I’m impressed, he was very, very good in the last two games. These were two games when he was much better than in any other game and he showed what he is capable of.
“Everybody thinks we as managers do the line-up, and of course we do. But in the end the players take care that you don’t leave them out, they do it in training or in games, and of course in games it’s the opportunity for everybody.”
Football Audit understands that the Blues are ready to let Lukaku leave the club this summer.
