Report: Manchester United have made new £42m bid for Arsenal target

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have made a new bid for Arsenal target and Ajax central defender Lisandro Martinez, according to De Telegraph.

De Telegraph reported late last night that Manchester United have made a new bid worth €50 million (£42.27 million) including bonuses for Martinez.

Earlier this month, The Daily Star reported that Arsenal are keen on signing the Argentina international defender and have had a bid of £35 million turned down.

The report added that the Gunners are planning to make a new offer, while Manchester United’s initial bid for the left-footed centre-back was £37 million.

And now De Telegraph are reporting that the Red Devils have made a new bid worth €50 million (£42.27 million) including bonuses.

In our view, if Arsenal are to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax in the summer transfer window, then they have to make a new bid that is more than the one from Manchester United.

That is key.

Now, Martinez worked with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax, so he could be tempted to move to Old Trafford.

That is another factor that could work against the Gunners in their quest to sign the Argentine.

Moreover, Gabriel and Ben White are the two main centre-backs at Arsenal, which means that Martinez would not be guaranteed of playing regularly for Mikel Arteta’s side.
