Former Premier League attacker Stan Collymore has told Liverpool to make a ‘cheeky’ proposal to bring Georginio Wijnaldum back to Anfield.
The 31-year-old star left Merseyside as a free agent last year and joined the French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the Netherlands midfielder has thus far endured a difficult time in the country and was described as a ‘flop’ and ‘non-existent’ following the recent defeat to the Ligue 1 rivals Nice.
Already linked with a return to the Premier League, Stan told the Mirror that the English outfit should entertain a summer reunion.
“Wijnaldum is having a proper wobbler at Paris Saint-Germain and, despite the fact he’s earning a king’s ransom, if I were Jurgen Klopp I’d chance my arm with a cheeky low-ball offer to try to get him back to Liverpool.
“He’s 32 in November, the same age as Jordan Henderson and four years younger than James Milner, and he’d be a great player for the youngsters at Anfield such as Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones to learn from, too.
“I’m not usually a fan of going back but if there’s a cheap deal to be done, my old club could still be getting a proper, top-level performer.”
The 51-year-old Collymore went on to say that were the player available for £5 million or £8 million then Jurgen Klopp’s side should be very interested.
So far this term, Wijnaldum has netted three times and pitched up two assists in 29 appearances in all competitions.
