Leeds United Winger Had Numerous Suitors This Transfer Window

Leeds United set to make £18m bid for this talent- The 4th Official

A recent report from Leedslive mentioned that Leeds United have already made contract plans for Jack Harrison. The English forward was heavily linked with an exit from Elland Road with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur both showing keen interest. However, the Whites held firm and deemed his transfer as non-negotiable. His current contract expires in 2024 and the Leeds chiefs believe there is no rush in offering him a new contract immediately.

Harrison’s Good Form At Elland Road This Season

Harrison had a decent campaign with the Whites and deserved credit for helping them avoid relegation from the Premier League earlier in the previous season. The 25-year-old has played six matches so far in this campaign and has been in great form recently after finding the back of the net on one occasion and providing three assists in the English first division.

The English talent has proved to be consistent after averaging 1.7 tackles, 0.8 shots, 3.0 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game in Premier League football. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution after making just 74.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Should Leeds United Offer Him A New Contract?

Harrison can use his pace to get in behind the opposition with the ball out on the flanks. He has a knack for scoring a few important goals for his team and can even create a few meaningful opportunities for others around him in the final third of the pitch. The English playmaker is primarily a left-winger but can even function as a right-sided wide player if needed.

He can easily inject more quality and creativity into his side, may it be making decisive passes to set his team up or cutting in from wide areas to find the back of the net. He does his part well enough to have earned a permanent place in Jesse Marsch’s match-day squad.

At 25, the English sensation will enter the peak stage of his playing career soon enough, so he will be attracting a lot of interest from other Premier League clubs who can offer him a lucrative deal to lure him in. Leeds might as well lose him in the next transfer window should they not offer him a contract extension with increased wages. So if they feel it isn’t necessary for them to immediately act on this then it could come out to be a huge problem by the January transfer window.
