Chelsea remains in deep discussions with German outfit Bayer Leverkusen about the prospect of signing attacking-midfielder Kai Havertz this summer.

The 21-year-old Germany international has been closely linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the course of the last few months and football.london understands that the Blues remain confident that they can land his signature.

Havertz wants to seal a move to the Premier League but the deal is being held up because the club is struggling to reach an agreement over a fee, with Chelsea not willing to match Leverkusen’s full valuation of £90million.

Nevertheless, Chelsea is continuing to make all of the necessary moves in order to get a deal over the line.

With that in mind, here is a round-up of everything we know so far about Chelsea’s interest in the midfielder and what stage of the deal things currently stand at.

Six attributes that could make Havertz the ideal signing for Chelsea
Chelsea may have already secured the signing of Ajax sensation Ziyech for next season but you can never have too much quality, right?

If the Blues were to win the race for the midfielder, who would have had ambitions to represent Germany at this summer’s European Championships had they not been suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic, he would add an extra wealth of quality to Lampard’s options.

And that is an opinion held by Leverkusen assistant boss Marcel Daum, who has outlined the midfielder’s qualities.

He told talkSPORT: “If you see his movement, he’s very elegant, he’s always calm, he has a great passing ability. What a lot of people don’t see, because we watch him every day, is that he’s pretty fast. That’s a big bonus.

“He’s a great player; he’s scoring goals, he’s great in the air and he’s pretty fast.

“It’s up to him how far he can go.”
