Manchester United is hopeful this week that it will reach a record-breaking deal for Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho after talks in the last 48 hours have made crucial progress.

After spending the last three years in Germany, The England International is keen to return to the Premier League.

The Bundesliga giants values Jadon Sancho, 20, at £108million, and United had hoped to talk the club down from that asking price despite the financial consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dortmund declined to offer a ‘pandemic discount,’ however, and told United a fortnight ago that they want the future of Sancho to be resolved by 10 August – when the pre-season training of the club is scheduled to begin.

This has forced the hand of United and the Independent Say United is now able to meet the asking price of Dortmund to conclude an agreement this week

On ‘both sides,’ there is a sense that the move is going to be completed in the next 72 hours.

Sancho has already settled with United on personal terms, meaning that the club now has to negotiate the finer transfer details.

While United is now willing to meet the asking price of Dortmund, an agreement has yet to be reached as the Red Devils want to structure the deal so that the costs can be spread over several years.
