Inter Milan have reportedly refused Arsenal’s bid to include either Hector Bellerin or Alexandre Lacazette in a swap deal for striker Lautaro Martínez.
According to Gazzetta, the Italian club want to bring in full-back Bellerin on loan with an option to buy, but any deal will not include the Argentinian striker.
Arsenal’s interest in bringing in a striker has been widely reported, with Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham as well as the highly rated Martinez on their list of targets.
It is believed that Arsenal would prefer to sell Lacazette before making an official bid for any new striker.
Inter value Martinez at £68m and would not even consider any bids for less than that. If Arsenal were to offer that kind of money then negotiations could commence, but that looks very unlikely at this stage.
However, Martinez’s new contract talks have stalled amid Inter’s financial difficulties and the Argentine’s costly requirements. With two years left on his current deal, if he fails to agree new terms soon then the Italian club will have no choice but to cash in on the player.
Bellerin and his agents are also in talks with Arsenal as they look to force a move away for the Spanish right-back.
Inter are interested and it is thought that Bellerin is open to a move. It now comes down to whether Arsenal will allow him to go without finding a replacement, and whether Inter provide an offer which is acceptable for the north London club.
Arsenal have already signed former Brighton defender Ben White, central midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht and Nuno Tavares from Benfica this summer.
The Gunners’ board have also told Ben White’s representatives that they hope more signings will follow him in the door between now and the end of the window.
