Chelsea locked horns with Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a positive result on the road. The Blues made a decent start to the contest as they took the lead in the 23rd minute courtesy of Raheem Sterling’s tap-in. However, the Saints managed to equalise just five minutes later via Romeo Lavia’s goal. Adam Armstrong completed the turnaround for the home side as he scored in the first half injury-time. Chelsea went into the half-time break 2-1 down on the scoreline.

Thomas Tuchel’s men tried their best but failed to come up with a response in the second 45 minutes as the contest ended with the Blues suffering a 2-1 loss away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player fared during the match against the Saints.

GK: Edouard Mendy – 6.5/10

The Blues’ goalie had to make a few important saves but will be disappointed for conceding two goals in the first half.

RB: Cesar Azpilicueta – 7/10

The Spaniard was a dominant presence in the air and managed to keep things solid at the back. He even engineered one good chance in the final third.

CB: Thiago Silva – 7.5/10

Silva defended his penalty box well and deserves credit for making a few crucial interceptions at the back.

CB: Kalidou Koulibaly – 6.5/10

He cleared the danger when the opposition were on the offensive but struggled to keep the opposition attackers quiet during the 90 minutes.
