After a slow start to life in England, Timo Werner’s name is becoming a familiar fixture on the scoresheet.
The Chelsea striker netted the Blues’ fourth goal in last Saturday evening’s 4-1 win over Sheffield United to take his tally of goals for his new club to eight.
As well as that, his goal against the Blades was his fifth in just his last four matches, highlighting just how deadly he could prove to be for the Blues in years to come following his summer move from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.
Even though the Premier League is currently on pause because of the international break, Werner most certainly isn’t, with the 24-year-old currently away on international duty with Germany.
And on Saturday evening, the striker continued his recent run of good form by adding another two strikes to his ever-growing tally, netting Germany’s second and third goals in their UEFA Nations League tussle with Ukraine in Group A4.
Having fallen behind to Roman Yaremchuk’s 12th-minute strike, Joachim Low’s side drew level through former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane 11 minutes later.
Werner then completed the turnaround 10 minutes later, connecting with Leon Goretzka’s cross to nod in from close range, before adding a third in the second half.
His first goal, which gave Germany a 2-1 lead at half time, marked Werner’s 14th for his country at senior level and his third of this UEFA Nations League campaign, following strikes against both Spain and Switzerland earlier in the group stage.
Having found the net once again, Chelsea’s supporters haven’t passed up on the opportunity to boast about their new striker’s goal-scoring ability and consistency, with plenty of them reacting to his latest strike on social media.
Here is what some of them have had to say on Twitter…
His double against Ukraine means Werner has now scored 11 goals for club and country this season in just 14 matches.
His next opportunity to try and add to that tally will be when Germany take on Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday night, before returning to Cobham to link up with his Chelsea team-mates again.
The Blues return to action in the Premier League next Saturday when they travel to face Newcastle United in the lunchtime kick off.
