Ben Chilwell to seal Chelsea transfer this week from Leicester City following the failure of Brendan Rodgers to qualify for the Champions League.

The England international, 23, is a top priority this summer for Chelsea, with Frank Lampard ‘s side already being very involved in the transfer market.

Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech were already introduced to the Chelsea squad, and Kai Havertz has already been considered to be on his way to Stamford Bridge. And it’s predicted that Chilwell will move to west London.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea’s transfer hopes will be given yet another boost this week with Chilwell to spell out his intentions to leave.

He sees his long-term future at Chelsea and expects, for at least the next five years, to be their first choice left-back.

Although at Leicester since the age of 12, he is extremely ambitious and wants to be at the starting XI for Euro 2021 at Gareth Southgate.

Playing football in the Champions League will certainly strengthen his case and Leicester looks likely to sacrifice one of its most valuable possessions.

Previously, Rodgers said he has been ‘relaxed’ about the future of Chilwell but Leicester is accustomed to losing their best players to the big boys of the Premier League.

However, they were well-compensated by Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United in deals for Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kante and Harry Maguire and they would expect the same for Ben Chilwell.

Their owners are under no financial pressure to sell, which means Chelsea will have to spend heavily to signing him.

Nonetheless, James Maddison has devoted his future to The Foxes as he signs a new contract.
