According to reports, Barcelona is considering a loan move for Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
After being stripped of his captaincy last week due to a disciplinary breach, Aubameyang’s future with the Gunners is now in doubt.
The 32-year-old has been training separately from the first team and was left out of the squad for Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Leeds United.
Barcelona is reportedly considering a loan deal for Aubameyang and is keeping an eye on the striker’s situation at Arsenal, according to MailOnline.
Due to their financial difficulties, Barca would have to negotiate with Arsenal over Aubameyang’s £350,000-per-week salary.
Following Sergio Aguero’s decision to retire, the Spanish club is looking for a new striker.
‘All I can say right now is that we have made this decision that, unfortunately, is a really tough one,’ Arteta said last week when asked if the club will consider selling Aubameyang.
‘Obviously, if I had a choice, I would not want to be sitting here discussing this, but we had no choice.’
‘Well, they accepted the decision,’ Arteta said when asked if Arsenal’s dressing room had accepted the decision. And I believe they are aware of it because they have made a commitment to it.
‘They’ve demanded that we take our culture, demands, and who we want to be as a club, as well as how we want to represent his football club, to a new level.’ And if those standards aren’t met, you won’t be able to participate in our daily activities.’
Meanwhile, Barcelona has looked into signing Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.
