Arsenal have submitted an offer of €55 million (£45.8m) plus Lucas Torreira for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to reports.
The 21-year-old is one of Serie A’s most in-demand strikers having scored 16 goals in 19 league appearances so far this season.
Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the Serbia international with Antonio Conte understood to be a huge admirer of the striker.
But according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal have now made their move for Vlahovic by submitting a bid of €55 million (£45.8m) plus Torreira to Fiorentina.
The report claims that Arsenal value the deal overall at €70m and are hopeful that the offer will be enough to convince them to sell in the January transfer window.
Torreira is currently spending the season on loan at Fiorentina and the Italian club are keen to make the move permanent
Meanwhile, Vlahovic has not ruled out the prospect of extending his stay at Fiorentina, despite having only a year remaining on his contract this summer.
When asked if he wants to remain at Fiorentina, Vlahovic told Politika: ‘I have stated this several times so far. A beautiful football story is being made here in Florence.
‘We have a good team, great football players, great support from the fans. It all deserves respect.
Only God knows what will happen in the next period. My wish is to bring Fiorentina to Europe, because we have not been in Europe for a long time.
‘I don’t know what can happen overnight. We’ll see.
