Arsenal handed major injury boost as star player returns to full training ahead of clash with Manchester United

Kieran Tierney appears to have handed Arsenal a major boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League showdown against Manchester United after he was spotted in training on Wednesday.

The influential left-back has struggled to maintain his fitness over the course of the last month and has missed three of his side’s last four matches in all competitions.

Tierney was absent last night as the Gunners recorded their fifth win from their last six matches to move to within four points of a Champions League qualifying place having been steeling themselves for a potential relegation battle as recently as mid-December

Arsenal face an acid test of their credentials against in-form United on Saturday and Mikel Arteta would benefit hugely were his first-choice left-back to be available, but he was coy on the subject following last night’s victory at St Mary’s.

He said: ‘From Saturday, just to make it clear, we had five players who were not available to play. We made seven changes and five of them were because they were not ready to play the game. KT was one of them

‘I don’t know (if he can play against United). He wasn’t available against Southampton in the FA Cup, he was injured.

He’s still injured today. Let’s see how he progresses for the game against Man United.’ But the Scotland international appears to be in with a chance of playing after he was spotted in a video posted on Arsenal’s YouTube account in which new loan signing Martin Odegaard was being put through is paces
