Liverpool will entertain Ajax at Anfield this Tuesday night as they look to bounce back from their humiliating 4-1 defeat away at Napoli in the UEFA Champions League earlier this month. The Reds will be eager to produce a much-improved showing and collect maximum points from this home game.
Jurgen Klopp will stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and could make a few changes to his starting XI for this European clash. Both Darwin Nunez and Thiago Alcantara are expected to play from the start as Liverpool look to revert to their strongest XI for this game.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Ajax
Alisson Becker will play in between the sticks for the Merseyside after he allowed four goals versus Napoli in his last European appearance. Joel Matip could get a chance to impress alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the centre of Klopp’s defence. Their main focus would be to keep a high line and defend their penalty box well when Ajax are on the offensive.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will fill in at right-back as he continues to carry most of the creative burden for Liverpool. Andrew Robertson would be expected to put in another hard-working display on the other side as the left-back. Klopp will instruct both of them to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Joe Gomez will be available for selection on the bench following his poor display versus Napoli recently as he offers cover for the centre-half positions.
Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho and Harvey Elliott could make up the Liverpool midfield for this game. The talented midfield three would try to dominate possession at the centre of the park and create some decent chances in the final third.
James Milner could be benched for this game as he is struggling to perform at his best. The veteran midfielder might come on to feature in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Luis Diaz will keep his spot on the left flank after his goal-scoring display at Naples. He will be Klopp’s best hope for a goal this week.
Mohamed Salah is not playing at his best at the moment. Hence, we can expect the Egypt international to be hungry to score goals when he laces up to face off against the Ajax defenders in midweek.
Roberto Firmino will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to catch the eye as a late-game substitute if the Reds are in need of a goal by then.
